An Encore Performance of Historic Proportions

Much like any theatrical performance or musical show, life has a beginning, the story unfolds, and somewhere between the middle and the end you experience the height of excitement. We’ve designed every detail of The Whitney around encapsulating that pinnacle for our residents, so it’s no coincidence that it’s located above the historic Bethesda Theater.

Built in 1938 as one of the era’s Art Deco cinema palaces, the Bethesda Theater celebrated its 75th anniversary with an $8 million renovation and revival. Thoughtful modernization of the theater meant maintaining many of its Streamline Moderne characteristics, including original interior finishes and painted murals. This National Historic Register Property is now home to Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club and is quickly becoming the region’s premier venue for dinner and live music. Its intimate setting features 300 dinner seats and an additional 200 performance seats, made available once the dinner seats are sold out. Classic continental fare and signature cocktails pair together to provide an amazing evening of dining and entertainment. With a beautiful 40 foot bar and welcoming lounge area, this elegant and acoustically superb theater is the perfect place to enjoy your favorite artists. What better way to impact our residents than to invite them to enjoy an exciting piece of history.
