Pass Around Tapas-Style Plates at Spanish Diner

  |     |   Uncategorized

Famed chef José Andrés spent much of his childhood in Spain in the kitchen, learning to craft comfort food alongside his mother and grandmother. It’s this very experience he attempts to capture at the newly opened Spanish Diner, where splashy decor, artful cocktails, and reimagined Spanish tapas await.

Step into the light, airy space and you’ll be greeted by an appealing onslaught of colors, from the tiled wall behind the bar to the curving ceilings that frame the huge windows. The food and drink are just as colorful, especially the specialty small plates. Order a few to share at your table, such as the pan con tomate, featuring crispy slices of toast topped with EVOO and freshly sliced tomatoes, or the patatas bravas, a signature Spanish dish of fried potatoes that comes with tomato sauce and garlic aioli. Craving something a little less familiar? Breakfast is served all day, including Andrés’ popular huevos rotos Casa Lucio. The dish takes its name from a restaurant in Madrid, where a renowned chef crafted this and many other well-known bites. The simple breakfast showcases fried eggs and potatoes (your choice of two, four, or six) with add-ins like ham and Chistorra sausage.
