Women’s History Month is here! Officially beginning in 1995, every March is an opportunity to celebrate women's history, excellence, and achievements. The month was created to amplify the voices of women, celebrate the many contributions women have made to the United States, and recognize specific achievements made throughout history. From the first female self-made millionaire, C.J. Walker, to the first female Vice President, Kamala Harris- this is time to learn, recognize, and honor the history of incredible women.
In 2024, the theme for Women’s History Month this year is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.” This theme is specifically designed to recognize women in the United States who fight for a positive future through eliminating bias and discrimination from our society. This year, we are especially honoring women who have taken the lead to show the importance of change.
The Whitney encourages you to take the time to reflect and celebrate the amazing women through history and within your personal life. Additionally, take the time to recognize the gender inequalities that still exist today. Use this time to work toward a more equitable future. Through the process of equity, we can reach equality. Appreciate and celebrate the women in your life not only this month but every month.
