Hot chocolate. Holiday music. Ice skating. Some winter staples just ooze holiday cheer. When you’re ready to get into the spirit, crank up the carols, fill a mug with cocoa, and come out to the Rockville Outdoor Ice Skating Rink in the Town Square. Now through the end of March it’ll be keeping the cheer alive (even after the holidays have come and gone).
The spacious ice skating rink is open to the public every day, even on holidays! The gates open at 10 a.m. or noon depending on the day of the week, and you can usually skate until 10 or 11 p.m. thanks to bright lights that surround the rink. Since admission is just $10 (and rental skates a mere $5), you might find yourself coming back to enjoy the fresh-air recreation time and time again this winter! The rink even stays open for extended hours when local kids are on their holiday break. Haven’t been skating in a while? Rockville’s rink has both public and private lessons so you can hone your skills or build them in the first place, if you’re starting from scratch.
